Description
Copy of an original carte de visite portrait of Ngāti Manga Maniapoto rangatira Rewi Maniapoto. Maniapoto appears from the chest up, facing toward his right. He wears a tāniko adorned kaitaka over a light-toned shirt and dark-toned waistcoat. His hair is short and greying, in which he wears two huia feathers. He has a light-toned moustache, stubble and facial tā moko. The photograph is included on page 61 of William Francis Robert Gordon's album "Some "Soldiers of the Queen" who served in the Maori Wars and Other Notable Persons Connected Herewith".
