Copy of an original carte de visite studio portrait of Pai Marire and Taranaki leader Te Ua Haumēne. Te Ua appears seated with his right rand raised, facing forward. He wears a korowai adorned with dyed hukahuka and frilling, over a dark-toned jacket. Te Ua's hair is short and dark, curling out at the sides. He sports a burnsides moustache connecting to his sideburns. The photograph is included on page 61 of William Francis Robert Gordon's album "Some "Soldiers of the Queen" who served in the Maori Wars and Other Notable Persons Connected Herewith".
