Description
Copy of an original carte de visite studio portrait of Te Ati Haunui-a-Paparangi rangatira Topia Peehi Turoa. Turoa stands on a patterned studio floor, dressed in a full-length kaitaka with tāniko. His feet are bare and he has a single huia feather in his hair as well as a burnside style moustache connecting to sideburns. A wooden chair can be seen behind him. The photograph is included on page 61 of William Francis Robert Gordon's album "Some "Soldiers of the Queen" who served in the Maori Wars and Other Notable Persons Connected Herewith".
