Copy of an original carte de visite studio portrait of Te Ati Haunui-a-Paparangi rangatira Topia Peehi Turoa. Turoa appears standing on a patterned studio floor, facing toward his right. He is dressed in a full-length kaitaka with tāniko, bare feet, and a single huia feather in his hair. His hair is dark and slicked back and he has a burnside style moustache connecting to sideburns. Behind him, on the right of the photograph, appears a wooden chair. The studio wall skirting board is visible in the background. The photograph is included on page 61 of William Francis Robert Gordon's album "Some "Soldiers of the Queen" who served in the Maori Wars and Other Notable Persons Connected Herewith".
