"Te Harawera Tauranga"
Copy of an original carte de visite portrait of Te Harawira of Ngāi Te Rangi. Te Harawira appears kneeling on a patterned studio floor, facing toward his left, holding a rifle. He wears a piupiu made with pokinikini tags, an ammunition pouch strapped around his shoulders, and numerous huia feathers in his hair. He has short, dark hair, a moustache and beard, in which a huia feather sits on each side. The photograph is included on page 61 of William Francis Robert Gordon's album "Some "Soldiers of the Queen" who served in the Maori Wars and Other Notable Persons Connected Herewith".
