Copy of an original carte de visite portrait of Pai Mārire proponent Patara Raukatauri. Patara appears seated, facing forward and looking slightly to his right, from the knee up. He wears a light-toned suit, a waistcoat, an ascot cravat, and a small light-toned cross on his left breast. His hair is short and dark and he sports burnside style facial hair, with connecting moustache and sideburns. His hands are in his lap, and in his right he holds a kotiate. The photograph is included on page 61 of William Francis Robert Gordon's album "Some "Soldiers of the Queen" who served in the Maori Wars and Other Notable Persons Connected Herewith".
