"Te Ua"

Description
Copy of an original carte de visite portrait of Pai Marire and Taranaki leader Te Ua Haumēne. Haumēne appears seated, from the mid-torso up, facing forward. He wears a dark-toned jacket and waistcoat, with a light-toned ascot cravat. His hair is short and dark and he has sideburns connecting to his moustache, also known as the burnsides style. The chair in which he is seated is partially visible on the left of the photograph. The photograph is included on page 61 of William Francis Robert Gordon's album "Some "Soldiers of the Queen" who served in the Maori Wars and Other Notable Persons Connected Herewith".
