Description
Copy of an original carte de visite studio vignette portrait of Ngāti Haua rangatira Pāora Te Ahuru. Te Ahuru appears standing, facing slightly to his left and looking forward. He wears a chequered shirt, waistcoat, bare feet and a kaitaka with tāniko on the bottom edge, around his shoulders. In his right hand he holds a taiaha. His hair is short and dark and he sports a beard. The photograph is included on page 60 of William Francis Robert Gordon's album "Some "Soldiers of the Queen" who served in the Maori Wars and Other Notable Persons Connected Herewith".
