Description
Copy of an original photograph of the Manaia Redoubt in 1882. A group of men are shown standing outside the entrance, five of whom are leaning on the fence. To the left of the Armed Constabulary tower stand two more men. On the left side of the photograph stands a man with a horse in front of a shed. The foreground is a patch of grassed land, and in the background a sky with horizontal clouds. The photograph is included on page 60 of William Francis Robert Gordon's album "Some "Soldiers of the Queen" who served in the Maori Wars and Other Notable Persons Connected Herewith".
