Description
Copy of an original carte de visite portrait, identified as Ngāpuhi rangatira Whiria Pomare Whetoi II, nephew of Pomare Whetoi. Pomare appears in an oval shaped portrait, facing forward. He wears a dark-toned jacket, patterned light-toned shirt and a neck scarf. His hair is short and greying, and he appears with full facial tā moko. The photograph is included on page 57 of William Francis Robert Gordon's album "Some "Soldiers of the Queen" who served in the Maori Wars and Other Notable Persons Connected Herewith".
