Copy of an original carte de visite portrait of Ngāiterangi and Ngāi Tuwhiwhia rangatira Tomika Te Mutu. Te Mutu appears seated, from the waist up, facing to his left. Wearing a striped, dark-toned shirt, he is also dressed in a kaitaka adorned with frilling and circles. In his right hand, Te Mutu holds a carved, wooden tokotoko. The photograph is included on page 56 of William Francis Robert Gordon's album "Some "Soldiers of the Queen" who served in the Maori Wars and Other Notable Persons Connected Herewith".
