Copy of an original carte de visite close-up portrait of Hemi Parai of Ngāti Toa Ngāti Haumia. Parai Appears seated, from the knee up, facing slightly to his right. Parai is dressed in a suit with a bow tie. He is balding with light-toned hair, and his hands placed in his lap. The photograph is included on page 56 of William Francis Robert Gordon's album "Some "Soldiers of the Queen" who served in the Maori Wars and Other Notable Persons Connected Herewith".
