Copy of an original carte de visite studio portrait of Corporals Dunklynn, Bailey, and Petely, and Sergeant Cook, staff of the Commissariat. The men appear wearing dress uniform and banded pillbox hats. Dunklynn (left, standing) wears a medal on his left breast. Dunklynn, Bailey (right, standing), and Petely (right, sitting) each have two badges on the right sleeves of their jackets, indicating their rank as Corporal. Cook (left, sitting) wears three badges on his right sleeve, indicating his rank as Sergeant. Dunklynn and Bailey have their left hands sitting on the right shoulders of Cook and Petely. Dunklynn and Petely each hold a cane in their right hand, and Cook holds a cane in his left hand. The photograph is included on page 51 of William Francis Robert Gordon's album "Some "Soldiers of the Queen" who served in the Maori Wars and Other Notable Persons Connected Herewith".
Bailey may be Walter Bailey b.1844, d 1905, who was a ‘scout’ in the NZ Land Wars.
