Description
Copy of an original studio portrait of Colonel Charles Sillery, Quarter Master General. The oval-shaped, slightly vignette portrait shows Sillery standing facing toward his right. Dressed in formal attire with a high collar and waistcoat under his jacket, Sillery appears leaning on a sword with his left hand. His thinning hair is styled into a comb over, with tufts at the sides. He has a large beard and moustache. The photograph is included on page 51 of William Francis Robert Gordon's album "Some "Soldiers of the Queen" who served in the Maori Wars and Other Notable Persons Connected Herewith".
