Description
Copy of an original carte de visite portrait of Ngāpuhi leader Eruera Maihi Patuone. Patuone appears seated from the waist up, facing to his right. He is dressed in a kaitaka adorned with four circles and fringing around both of his shoulders. In his right hand Patuone holds a cane. In this photograph he is elderly, with short hair and a full beard and moustache. The photograph is included on page 50 of William Francis Robert Gordon's album "Some "Soldiers of the Queen" who served in the Maori Wars and Other Notable Persons Connected Herewith".
