Description
Copy of an original carte de visite vignette portrait of Captain Peter Cracroft of the H.M.S. Niger. Facing to his left, Cracroft appears from the chest up in formal attire. He wears a dark-toned jacket with seven visible buttons and a medal on his left breast. With full sideburns, Cracroft's thinning hair is parted to the side and he has a distinctive chin dimple. The photograph is included on page 50 of William Francis Robert Gordon's album "Some "Soldiers of the Queen" who served in the Maori Wars and Other Notable Persons Connected Herewith".
