Copy of a copy image of an original glass positive photograph of William Odgers V.C. of the H.M.S. Niger. The oval-shaped portrait is framed with a rope pattern and is mounted on a Union Jack background. Odgers is shown from the lower chest up, facing forward. Dressed in naval uniform, he appears wearing a sailor bow around his collar, four medals on his left breast and one on his right, an anchor emblem on his left sleeve, and a cap inscribed 'NIGER'. The photograph has been hand tinted in colour. The photograph is included on page 49 of William Francis Robert Gordon's album "Some "Soldiers of the Queen" who served in the Maori Wars and Other Notable Persons Connected Herewith".
