Copy of original carte de visite portrait of Major Greaves of the 70th (Surrey) Regiment. Dressed in military formal wear, Greaves dons a moustache and full side burns. Holding a cane in his right hand and wearing a hat, Greaves stands on a patterned studio floor, facing slightly to his right. The photograph is included on page 48 of William Francis Robert Gordon's album "Some "Soldiers of the Queen" who served in the Maori Wars and Other Notable Persons Connected Herewith".
