Copy of original vignette carte de visite portrait of Captain Ralston of the 70th (Surrey) Regiment. This portrait shows Collins head to upper torso where he is dressed in military uniform with a sash and left-breast pocket. He is facing to his right. Ralston has a full moustache and beard and his hair is parted to the side. The photograph is included on page 48 of William Francis Robert Gordon's album "Some "Soldiers of the Queen" who served in the Maori Wars and Other Notable Persons Connected Herewith".
