Copy of original studio portrait of General Thomas James Galloway of the 70th (Surrey) Regiment. Dressed in military uniform and looking to his right, Galloway has a grey beard and a dark moustache. He holds his hat in his right hand and a cane in his left and wears a coat adorned with toggles and a light toned belt. Galloway stands on a patterned studio floor with a lounge chair which is mostly visible on the left of the photograph. The photograph is included on page 48 of William Francis Robert Gordon's album "Some "Soldiers of the Queen" who served in the Maori Wars and Other Notable Persons Connected Herewith".
