Copy of original carte de visite portrait of Lieutenant Henry Bally of the 70th (Surrey) Regiment. Bally appears in formal civilian wear, with a moustache and his hair parted in the middle. Facing to his right, Bally leans on a podium with his left arm on top of his right. A studio curtain is draped in the background behind Bally, on the right of the photograph. The photograph is included on page 47 of William Francis Robert Gordon's album "Some "Soldiers of the Queen" who served in the Maori Wars and Other Notable Persons Connected Herewith".
