When Blanche Halcombe's house caught fire in 1961 rescue services were unable to get in quick enough to save her life. She had a very large and eclectic collection which filled her house. After the fire the things that survived unburned were rescued and many things found their way to the Museum. These boxes were used to pack up Blanche's collection of bird study skins so that they could be easily transported.
