Description
Gas, 'ZIP' portable heater. Outer case is cream coloured enamel with chrome safety bars that lift at the front. Cream plastic handles are on either side of the heater. Large central area for the flame has a wire mesh section over the top of it. A concave chrome reflector panel is situated behind the flame area.There is a dial on the right hand side of the heater to open and close the gas. There are four circular holes in the hinged rear panel.

The company ZIP Industries was acquired by Michael Crouch in 1962, after which it became a water-heater manufacture and is still in business today.
There is no suggestion that the current ZIP Industries makes any heaters asides from water-heating systems. Once upon a time in 1962 however, it was a manufacturer of kitchen and bathroom heaters; this heater possibly comes from that period.
