"Pirori"

Production date
Aug 1899
Description
An unframed botanical oil painting on canvas. The plant has long, thin, green leaves that stretch out from the plant in all directions. In the centre of the plant and in the middle of all the leaves are four yellow fruits, with white petals at the base of these four fruits. The background of the painting fades from a pale blue/green to dark brown.

Fanny has identified this plant as "Pirori". A separate note from another source has added the word "Tawhara" in pencil. The tāwhara are the flowers of the Kiekie and the Pirori are its fruit. Another term for the Kiekie plant is Freyacinetia Banksii.
