Altar cloth from St. Mary's Cathedral. Long section of fine white linen with a whitework motif embroidered across each end. The pattern intersperses a cross surrounded by laurel leaves with a flower design. There are a further five crosses repeated in the body of the cloth.

The altar cloth was designed to lay over the high altar at St Mary's Cathedral in New Plymouth. It was likely hand stitched by the church Embroidery Guild which has been in constant existence from the late 1800s through to today. This piece is thought to date to the early 1900s and be made from fine Irish linen.
