This chair was made by the Bathurst sisters, Bertha and Violet, some time in the 1940s or 1950s. The Bathurst family farmed on Tarata Road, inland of Inglewood and the timber the two sisters used for their furniture was from their old Kaimata family home. Violet would draw the folk-art designs and Bertha would carve them.
