Description
A New Zealand Medal. The silver medal features a left facing profile of Queen Victoria on the obverse. " VICTORIA D:G:BRITT:REG:F.D " is marked around the edge of the profile. A wreath is featured on the reverse with " NEW ZEALAND VIRTUTIS HONOR " marked around the edge of it. "1863 TO 1866" is marked within the wreath. "228 SERGT. JOHN NISCON 2ND BN 18TH RYL.IRISH REGT." is marked on the edge of the medal. The medal is topped by a straight suspension bar ornamented with fern leaf designs and a blue ribbon with a red central stripe is attached to it. A bar and pin is attached to the ribbon.
