Description
A silver jubilee medal celebrating the reign of King George V. The obverse features left facing half length profiles of King George V and Queen Mary in crowns and robes of state. " GEORGE V AND QUEEN MARY MAY VI MCMXXXI " is marked near the outside. The reverse features a crowned GRI monogram. " MAY 6 1916 " and " MAY 6 1935 " flanks this monogram. The medal is attached to a red ribbon with two dark blue stripes and one white stripe at the edges with a simple ring suspension. It is held in a red, rectangular case marked with a crown and the years "1910" and "1935". Comes with a paper copy of the citation to Arthur Morton of Egmont Village.

This King's Silver Jubilee Medal was presented to Arthur Morton in 1935. The medal commemorated King George V's accession to the throne in 1910. There were 80,000 medals made and 1500 were given out throughout New Zealand. Arthur Morton was a prominent Taranaki farmer from Egmont Village and was the Chairman of the National Diary Association for over thirty years.
