35mm negative portrait of Hercules (Herky) Moon (circa 1879-1963), who worked for the Taranaki Herald for 70 years. He began working for the newspaper as an apprentice compositor in 1892, finally retiring in 1962. Moon is wearing a dark pinstriped suit and tie over a light shirt. He is standing on the street with buildings and a person partially visible in the background.

Hercules Moon retired in 1962 after 70 years. He began as an apprentice compositor in 1892.

In the background to the left is the corner of CC Wards. The alleyway behind Herky was access way to the Commercial Printing Division paper store (effectively the "back door" of the print shop).
