Copy photograph of original full-length portrait of Captain Thomas W. J. Lloyd of the 57th (Middlesex) Regiment. Lloyd was killed at Ahuahu on April 6th 1864. He is shown standing wearing light-toned pants, a dark waistcoat and dark jacket. His right hand is in his pocket. He has a moustache and full sideburns. There is a table to Lloyd's right with a top-hat sitting on it, and a draped curtain visible in the background. The photograph is included on page 39 of William Francis Robert Gordon's album "Some "Soldiers of the Queen" who served in the Maori Wars and Other Notable Persons Connected Herewith".
