A New Zealand War Service Medal. The cupro-nickel medal features a portrait of King George VI on the obverse." GEORGIVS VI D:G: BR OMN:REX FD :IND:IMP " is embossed around the outside. " FOR / SERVICE TO / NEW ZEALAND /1939-1945 " is embossed on the reverse of the medal which also features a fern leaf.Two fern leaves act as the suspender for the medal. The black ribbon has thin white stripes on the edge. The ribbon is mounted on cardboard.
