A British War Medal. The obverse features an uncrowned left facing portrait of King George V. " GEORGIVS V BRITT: OMN: REX ET IND: IMP " is marked around the profile. The reverse features a St George figure on horseback which is trampling a shield representing the Central Powers and a skull and crossbones. A sun is in the background. " 1914 1918 " is marked around the edge of this scene. "36959 L/CPL. F.J. EVETTS. N.Z.E.F." is inscribed on the edge. The ribbon has a watered orange centre with stripes of black and white at the sides and royal blue edges.

Frank Evetts was working as a bootmaker in New Plymouth before he enlisted to serve with the 1st Regiment of the 10th New Zealand contingent in the South African War. He was listed as working as a barman when he enlisted again during World War I with the New Zealand Rifle Brigade. Evans embarked in January 1917. He died in New Plymouth in 1951 and is buried in Te Henui cemetery.
