Description
A Victory Medal. The yellow bronze medal features a standing Victory figure on the obverse. The figure is holding a palm branch in her left facing hand and extending her right facing arm. " THE GREAT / WAR FOR / CIVILISATION / 1914-1919 " is marked on the reverse inside a leaf design. "33081, 2/Lt. L.R. HAMILTON. N.Z.E.F." is inscribed on the edge. The ribbon is a double rainbow colour with crimson on the edges and red in the centre.

Leslie Hamilton was a farmer when he enlisted in B Company of the 23rd Reinforcements Wellington Infantry Regiment. His company embarked on 14 March 1917. This medal was donated to Taranaki Museum as part of the collection of prominent south Taranaki lawyer John Houston.
