Copy photograph of original full-length portrait of Lieutenant Edward Brutton from the 57th (Middlesex) Regiment. Brutton is standing leaning against a pedestal on his right. His is wearing a dark-toned suit and is holding a cane or riding crop in his left hand. There is a large urn sitting on the pedestal. The top left corner has been cut diagonally. The photograph is included on page 38 of William Francis Robert Gordon's album "Some "Soldiers of the Queen" who served in the Maori Wars and Other Notable Persons Connected Herewith".
