Copy photograph of original full-length portrait of Ensign E. Broderip of the 57th (Middlesex) Regiment. Broderip is wearing light-toned trousers with a dark jacket and waistcoat. He is standing in a studio setting leaning against a tall pedestal on his left. He is holding a cane in his right hand. To his right there is a chair with a hat sitting on it and an elaborately decorated curtain hanging above. The top right corner of the photograph has been cut diagonally. The photograph is included on page 38 of William Francis Robert Gordon's album "Some "Soldiers of the Queen" who served in the Maori Wars and Other Notable Persons Connected Herewith".
