A New Zealand Medal. The silver medal features a left facing profile of Queen Victoria on the obverse. " VICTORIA D:G:BRITT:REG:F.D " is marked around the edge of the profile. A wreath is featured on the reverse with " NEW ZEALAND VIRTUTIS HONOR " marked around the edge of it. "J. BEAMISH CON. A.C." is marked on the edge of the medal. The medal is attached to a blue ribbon with a red central strip by a plain replacement suspension bar. A bar and pin is attached to the top of the ribbon.
John Beamish was badly wounded while defending Turuturumōkai Redoubt on 12 July 1868 during Tītokowaru's War.
