Description
Powelliphanta species. It is a large specimen of native land snail. It is a chocolate brown colour. There are vertical grooves in the shell. One the top side of the shell the center is golden in colour. The interior is a grey colour. On the bottom side of the shell is an old accession number in white pen A91.125.

Powelliphanta are large carnivorous land snails. They earthworms which they suck up like spaghetti. They are endemic to New Zealand and many species have restricted populations. They are highly susceptible to habitat loss and predation by introduced pest. Little is known about the species.
