Description
A Seringipatam Medal. The silver gilt medal features a British lion and the tiger of Mysore fighting. The reverse features a siege party entering the breached walls of a fortress. It is attached to a woven cord by a simple ring clasp.

to
commemorate
the
victory
of
the
British
army
over
Tipu
Sultan,
ruler
of
Mysore,
in
1799.
It
was
commissioned
by
the
East
India
Company
in
1801
and
issued
to
all
the
participants
in
the
campaign
using
various
metals.
