Description
Colour transparency slide showing an aerial view of the construction of the New Plymouth airport terminal building and runway. The completed runway is seen in running almost vertically through the centre of the image with white markings along it. The terminal building is visible on the left with hangars and other buildings below and a parking area behind it. The coast line is seen in the background on the left.
The new airport replaced an old grass airfield at Bell Block and opened in 1966.
