Description
Colour transparency slide showing an aerial view of the construction of the New Plymouth airport terminal building and runway. The partially completed runway is seen in running almost vertically through the centre of the image with an area of partially-sealed runway at the top. The terminal building location is visible on the left with a large area of cleared land behind it. There is also a strip of cleared land running horizontally from the runway out towards the coast.
The new airport replaced an old grass airfield at Bell Block and opened in 1966.
