This badge is believed to have belonged to Edward Cain, who lived in Te Kiri prior to enlisting in World War One. He served as a rifleman in the Machine Gun Corps, before being discharged for being overage. It is possible he collected this badge during his service as it is unlikely it was awarded to him as a rifleman.
