 Description
A Third Republic French Military Medal (Médaille militaire)
The silver, silver-gilt and blue enamel medal features a laurel-crowned female head facing left representing the French Republic on the obverse. A blue enamel ring bearing the gold text " REPUBLIQUE FRANÇAISE * 1870 " encirlces this figure and the entire medal is encircled by a laurel wreath" VALEUR ET DISCIPLINE " is marked on the reverse within a blue enamel ring encircled by a laurel wreath. The suspension is ornamented by a trophy of arms and it is attached to a yellow ribbon with light green edges.
