Description
Glass plate negative showing Truby King's Karitane home with a woman and children on the veranda. There is a path leading to the house which has a small staircase of five steps onto the veranda. To the left of the stairs there is an external wall with timber cladding and a bay window. The house has a pitched roof with a chimney. Accessed from the veranda are two doors into the house. The woman is standing at the top of the staircase on the veranda and is holding a small child or baby. She is wearing a dark toned full length skirt or dress and a light toned jacket. The child is wearing light toned clothing. To the right of them there is a second child who is standing on the banister of the veranda and holding onto a structural post of the house with one hand. The child is dressed in dark toned shorts and long sleeved top.
