Description
Eudyptula minor. Stuffed and mounted in an upright standing position with flippers spread out slightly. It is mounted on a piece of driftwood. The upper surface is a blue colour then underneath is white.

The
little
blue
penguin
is
the
worlds
smallest
penguin.
They
are
excellent
swimmers
and
come
ashore
at
night.
They
live
in
burrows,
natural
holes
and
sometimes
under
buildings.
The
population
is
affected
by
predators
and
the
population
is
declining
where
predator
control
is
not
being
carried
out.
They
lay
about
2
eggs
in
early
spring
and
both
parents
help
to
bring
food
to
the
nest
till
the
chick
is
about
8
weeks
old
when
it
fledges.
