Credit line
Schist is a metamorphic rock with flat sheet-like grains. Schist is defined by having over 50% of platy and elongated minerals, interleaved with quartz and feldspar. It can often appear to have a shiny appearance and the crystal can sometimes be seen with the naked eye. There are many types of schist named after their main mineral.
