Limestone is an abundant sedimentary rock found in many deposits in New Zealand. It often consist of bones and shells of many marine animals. Most of New Zealand's deposits of limestone was form in the Oligocene and Miocene Periods 5-37mya. In New Zealand limestone is usually used as a fine powder for agricultural fertiliser and roading aggregate.
