Description
A battered survey peg made from a short length of Australian hardwood sawn flat on one end and sharpened to a point on the other end. "Australian hard wood peg / used in survey of Manutahi / (Lepperton) 1866, taken up 1897 / by Mr I.G. Sole. Surveyor." is handwritten in sepia ink on a small piece of paper attached using six nails near the pointed end.
