Photograph showing the aftermath of a large fire in central New Plymouth, 22 July 1916. The fire destroyed many buildings on the Devon, Egmont, King and Queen Streets block, including the Theatre Royal. The remains of several buildings can be seen still smoking while a crowd of people looks on. New Plymouth's clock tower can be seen in the background on the right. The photograph is mounted on brown cardboard.
