Description
A full skirt made of three layers of cream-coloured and beige cotton. The rows are edged with dark-coloured tasselled braid. The pouched fabric insertion at the back forms a covering for a bustle and there is a slit pocket to one side. There is a hook and eye fastening on the cotton waistband and two 65cm-long tape ties.

The garment belonged to Fanny Ross (nee Phain) who married a Scotsman, David Ross. Fanny was Irish and came to New Zealand aged 18. She lived her in Milton in the South Island and is buried there.
