Description
A view of Dan Deegan's motor accident near Opunake, 3 February 1914. Three men and two women are standing beside an upturned car that is sitting amongst flax bushes at the bottom of a stream. Several broken wooden posts can be seen.
Deegan's vehicle left the road at Opua Bridge near Opunake, hitting a hand rail and going over an embankment into the water. Deegan was trapped for several hours but was rescued by a passing coach driver. The vehicle was removed from the site on the 6th February.
